Ruppe Family Geneology Website
I was approached by a few of the members of the Ruppe Family of California, asking if I could assist them by building a family website, and in particular, a family geneology database. The goals were to document the family geneology history in a form that could be viewed over the internet, yet limited to family members and others that we wish to provide access to. I quickly dialed into an open-source geneology database system developed by the Mormon faith to help document geneology. As most know, the Mormons are adept at geneology, and in this case produced a high quality web-driven geneology database. I simply created a website for the family as the open "front-end" of the system so that other Ruppe family members could find our particular California-based group, and then created the separate geneology database program as a separate database, but also embedded it within the Ruppe Family website. The result is a search-engine friendly home page and front end, publicly accessible system so others can find our family, with the backed database that we control access to.
About the Ruppe Family Website and Geneology Project
This site functions as an active family website for the large group of Ruppe Family members in California, as well as a Geneological database under constant construction by Ruppe family members worldwide. Access to the geneology database itself is limited to family members to protect the privacy of the family members, but anyone can visit the main website and have a look at the public resources and information. It is hoped that as other Ruppe family members active in geneology find the site with search engines, that they will log in, and help collectively build a larger, more comprehensive geneology database that includes the entire Ruppe family - both in America, as well as Germany and other countries where Ruppe family members live or ancestors have lived.
